Noot, 2009

The Grachtenfestival is an annual musicfestival presenting clasical music on special locations in the centre an in the canals of Amsterdam. The festival takes place during summer and offers in particular a podium for young musical talent. Part of the festival in 2009 was the Kindergrachtenfestival. The mascotte Noot has been designed to attract more interest of children for the festival and get them more involved in the Kindergrachtenfestival.

The red and white colours of the mascot represent both the festival and Amsterdam, that have these colors in their logo and city weapon. The hat that Noot is wearing is made of music paper and is shaped like a paper boat, representing the clasical music and the canals where the festival takes place. Three black buttons with a white cross are added to the 2D version, referring to the city weapon of Amsterdam. As part of the Grachtenfestival there was a workshop 'Noot maken'.
